Sewing in Space

My latest project was a baby blanket for an upcoming baby shower. It was supposed to be a very simple blanket.... (spaceship) flannel top with (yellow) fuzzy back. Then I asked for the wrong yardage and had to salvage the project. In order to reach any semblance of the dimensions I desired, it became my first "quilting" project! I very quickly learned that what everyone says is true--straight and even seams are essential in quilting. I also learned my fuzzy fabric wasn't the easiest medium with which to do that. :) But I kept at it, and I finished it tonight (after breaking my first needle last weekend... see, this project had lots of firsts!). Without further ado, here is the baby blanket for baby boy C.

Not too bad for a first try, right? I have green satin blanket binding, but I'm not sure.... do you think I should use it, or should I leave it as is?

There you have it! Happy sewing, everyone! :)

Great job! I think the satin binding would really finish it off nicely. Deb

Little secret...If you buy fabric at Joanns you can return it! ;) I know...who knew! As long as it is uncut and unaltered from when you had it cut they will take it back. Check with your local store! ;)

The blanket looks great even though it was an lot of first! I am excited to see how you end up finishing it!
